A Glam Winter Wedding at the Colony Club in Detroit, Michigan
After first meeting in middle school, newlyweds Michelle Manery (27 and a registered nurse) and Bryan Kisabeth (28 and a program manager) later moved on to separate high schools and colleges before reuniting ten years later in their hometown. "We were both home for Thanksgiving and ran into each other at a local bar," Michelle explains. Since it was the day after Bryan's birthday, Michelle sent him a short Facebook message and they soon began dating. Exactly three years later, Bryan popped the question while he was helping Michelle move home to Michigan from Chicago. "We were getting ready to cook and I could just tell he was nervous and wanted to get the question out," she says. "I was completely surprised!". For their winter wedding in the heart of Detroit, the couple exchanged vows at the Cathedral of the Most Blessed Sacrament before celebrating with nearly 250 guests at the city's Colony Club. "We chose the venue because of its classic, romantic feel and sheer beauty," the bride explains. Dressed in an ivory, strapless Paloma Blanca gown from Elizabeth's Bridal, Michelle's classic, glam style tied in perfectly with the look and feel of their winter-inspired wedding. Hundreds of candles were used to decorate the club's historic ballroom, while sequined accent linens popped against shades of white and blush. Gold chargers even adorned each place setting, while floral centerpieces filled with hydrangea and calla lilies were carefully situated dozens of tables. But despite the day's glam details, the couple made sure their special day was about much more than just their commitment to one another. "We decided that with our wedding being close to Christmas, we would adopt several families for the holiday in lieu of favors for our guests," Michelle explains. "This was expressed to them on their menu card along with a heartfelt thank you. Since it snowed several inches that day, many of our guests joined us at the tavern across the street from the club post-reception to keep the party going!"
