A Glamorous Asian-Fusion Wedding at Hatley Castle in Colwood, British Columbia

Ashlyn Sundar and Darren Chiu combined their different cultures for a glamorous, elegant wedding at Hatley Castle in Colwood, British Columbia. "Being first-generation born Canadians by immigrant parents from Hong Kong and Fiji, our upbringing was the heritage and traditions from Hindu and Chinese cultures," Ashlyn says.  "A Hindu wedding ceremony and prayer along with a Chinese Tea Ceremony was performed to incorporate both our backgrounds." The Hindu ceremony took place on the grounds of the castle underneath a greenery-covered mandap with DIY accents. Hanging gold decorations also added glamour to the space. The couple pulled their soft color palette from the garden and their outfits—a blush pink lehenga with red and gold accessories for Ashlyn, and a red, white and gold ensemble for Darren. Guests relaxed on jewel-toned lounge furniture after the ceremony, and then they headed indoors for a dinner reception in the castle. The tables had woven chargers, vintage glassware and small flower centerpieces for a pop of color. The bride changed into a neutral-colored beaded dress for dinner and dancing, and the groom donned a classic gray tuxedo.
