A Glamorous Beachside Wedding at The Sanderling Resort in Duck, North Carolina

Tiffany Fitzgerald (34 and in Risk Management) was so positive that Richard (Ricky) Laeng (33 and in business development) wouldn't be proposing during their trip to Ireland, that she point-blank told him so on their first night (after a few pints of Guinness!). "Ricky tried hard to divert the conversation, but the more he diverted, the more I blabbed about it, not knowing his plan to propose on top of the Cliffs of Moher the next day," says Tiffany. "It blew me away when he did it, even more so than the wind on the top of the Cliffs, and they were pretty fierce!" The couple began wedding planning once they returned and searched for a venue that was laid-back but still refined enough for their sophisticated September wedding. Tiffany grew up visiting the Outer Banks with her family and The Sanderling Resort in Duck, North Carolina was the perfect destination for their glitzy silver, navy and pink waterfront wedding. Despite their relaxed oceanfront setting, the couple hoped to achieve a glamorous feel with a "beach meets ballroom" theme. "I loved that we were having our wedding at the beach, but I didn't want to lose any of the elegance and glamour that I had always dreamed of for my wedding," says Tiffany. "So, I aimed to bring that elegance and glamour to the beach!" The newlyweds had chandeliers brought into their venue and then hung dramatic pink swags of fabric to transform the indoor space. Silver sequin runners and chargers popped against the solid navy linen while fuchsia garden rose, dahlia, stock and hydrangea arrangements added an extra touch of color. "We wanted the flowers to be dramatic and eye-catching, yet very romantic and soft," says Tiffany. "We alternated tall and soft dripping amaranthus and hydrangea arrangements with vibrant low designs," says Tiffany. "The contrast between high and low, and light and bright was amazing!"
