A Glamorous Black and White Wedding at Vintage Villas in Austin, Texas

At first, Nichole Denby (34 and a technology account executive) and Tevin Jackson (25 and a district sales manager at Pepsi Co.) wanted their wedding to be an all-white affair. Eventually, a friend persuaded Nichole to consider adding black to the mix, and that changed everything. The couple opted for a chic black and white wedding, using the colors for everything from the décor to the guest attire. For her own wedding day look, “I was going for African-American-Princess-Barbie-doll style,” Nichole. The outfit included an elegant headpiece and a beaded champagne-colored gown. The wedding ceremony, which was at the couple’s church, included Nichole’s daughter as the flower girl. After the vows, Nichole, Tevin and their guests headed to the reception at the Vintage Villas, which overlook Lake Travis. White floral arrangements filled the space where guests ate barbecue chicken and danced to R&B as well as "some Motown for the older crowd,” Nichole says. After the newlyweds cut into layers of French vanilla and strawberry cake covered in black ribbon and rhinestones, they made their dance floor debut to “Love” by Musiq Soulchild.
