A Glamorous, Classic Gold Wedding at Hilton President Kansas City in Kansas City, Missouri

Loving the gold and blush ballroom at the Hilton President Kansas City in Kansas City, Missouri, Christine Kim (25 and a pharmacist) and Keith Richardson (26 and an engineer) had a gorgeous, glamorous blush, gold and ivory wedding. The swoon-worthy gold crown molding and ornate chandeliers not only sealed the deal for the couple, but inspired the entire wedding. The couple had a traditional religious ceremony at the Prairie Baptist Church in Prairie Village, Kansas, which didn’t disappoint. “It has the most amazing windows throughout the sanctuary,” Christine says. “Right before the wedding ceremony began, to the sound of ‘Ode to Joy’ on the harp, the windows simultaneously opened to allow a flood of glorious light into the room.” Afterwards, they had an ornate reception full of tall ivory and gold centerpieces decorated with hanging beads by Floral Accents and an ivory and gold cake from Take the Cake. But, with all the ornate gold and fancy chandeliers, they wanted to add something that was still very them. So, they made all the table numbers with photos and memories of places at Kansas University (where they met!). They also added a fun hashtag, #KCTiesTheKnot, because of their initials (Keith and Christine) as well as Kansas City. Instead of traditional wedding favors, Christine and Keith made a donation to the National Breast Cancer foundation in honor of Christine’s mother’s 15th year as a breast cancer survivor. But, one of the best parts was the romantic first dance. “When Keith and I talk about our wedding day we agree that one of our favorite parts of the night was our first dance,” Christine says. “It was to Ellie Goulding's ‘How Long Will I Love You’ and such an amazing time to connect together as husband and wife.”

“I went with a simple ecru and gold foiled printed invitation set from Crane & Co,â€u009d Christine says. “The sides of the invitation were even hand painted with 14k gold paint!â€u009d

Christine carried white roses, hydrangeas, garden roses and dusty miller accents with spray painted gold leaves to match the ivory, blush and gold color palette.
“I always wanted a dramatic dress but it had to be simple at the same time,” Christine says. “I finally found the perfect balance of drama and simplicity when I found this amazing Maggie Sottero wedding gown. It had the dramatics in the bottom with flowing laters of chiffon, yet a simple and modern asymmetrical sweetheart neckline.”
The bridesmaids wore blush Monique Lhuillier floor-length dresses while the groomsmen wore classic black tuxedos with bow ties.

The flower girl wore a pink A-line dress with a bow in the back and carried a white daisy pomander down the aisle.

“A huge inspiration was the reception hall itself,” Christine says. “I always knew I wanted blush and gold, then when I went to visit the Hilton President Kansas City and saw their ballroom—ornate with gold crown molding and chandeliers, even parts of the walls that had blush colored crown molding—I knew this was the venue and the aesthetic I was going for exponentially came together after that!"
Christine and Keith decorated the reception tables with ivory hydrangeas, roses and orchids and completed the vases with gold branches and beads.
Christine and Keith enjoyed a five-tier white fondant wedding cake decorated with ornate gold detailing. The cake was white cake with hazelnut praline mousse and chocolate cake with caramel mousse. Yum!
