A Glamorous, Colorful Wedding at Oak Canyon Ranch in Cornell, California

For their wedding, Lisa Vang (32 and a fashion designer) and Scott Sakakura (27 and a mechanical engineer) were drawn to the privacy and natural beauty of Oak Canyon Ranch in Cornell, California. “True to its name, it is surrounded by century-old oak trees and is nestled in a beautiful secluded canyon,” says Lisa, who paired the naturally lush palette with glamorous, vibrant colors: deep crimsons, rich navy blues, yellow and orange. After a creekside ceremony under a wooden arch bedecked with a DIY flower arrangement, the newlyweds hosted their 150 guests in a warmly lit outdoor reception. String lights, chandeliers, vibrant flower arrangements and touches of gold imbued the evening with subtle glamour. Plus, the secluded locale allowed for the party to carry on into the night. “The private location enabled us to have a reception until 11 p.m., which was not offered in most outdoor venues,” says Lisa, who encourages brides to make their wedding their own—and to go big if you can. “Have a wedding you'll never forget. Make memories that you and your guests will never forget. It's your story.” —Carolyn Meers
