A Glamorous Indoor Garden Wedding at the Ritz-Carlton in Charlotte, North Carolina

It was hard for Evelyn Ageenko (29 and in Wells Fargo securities) and Thomas Adelman (30 and in Wells Fargo securities) not to notice each other sitting 25 feet apart at work. After a year of friendship and numerous morning coffee trips, the coworkers extended their relationship beyond the office. Evelyn and Tom hosted a glamorous indoor garden soiree at the Urban Garden of the Ritz-Carlton in Charlotte, North Carolina. The high-glass, cathedral-style ceilings of the Urban Garden allowed large amounts of natural light to stream in during the ceremony and created a modern feel in the metropolitan space. The couple focused on bringing the outdoors inside to ensure the variable fall weather wouldn't didn't change their plans. “I loved how the venue had the rows of trees, so those naturally helped build the garden theme, along with other things we planned for the wedding,” Evelyn says of her live flower wall and moss-covered escort card table. Since Evelyn is from a diverse ethnic background, she made sure her father’s Russian heritage and her mother’s Cuban heritage were represented in the best form possible: the food. Russian smoked salmon, dill blini with caviar, Cuban braised beef short ribs baked en croute (a take on beef empanadas) and beet tartare with Greek yogurt on endives (Tom's favorite) were part of the eclectic menu. Because of Hurricane Joaquin, Evelyn and Tom had to alter a few plans at the last minute. Evelyn swapped out an outdoors sparkler exit for an indoors pom-pom exit honoring the couple’s alma maters. “We had University of North Carolina blue and Duke blue pom-poms, which I thought was a personal and fun idea for the send-off, especially for a wedding in the Carolinas,” Evelyn says. —Juliette Cheatham
