Nkenna Anagboso (30 and a pharmacist) and Ekwere Ekpo (32 and a pharmacist) pulled off a glamorous blowout bash for their late-summer wedding in New Rochelle, New York. Glitz and glamour ruled the day, with the couple using gilded and crystal accents, lush arrangements of ivory orchids and pops of lavender to transform the Greentree Country Club ballroom into a striking scene. “I wanted my guests to be wowed by the decor,” Nkenna says. The festivities kicked off with an outdoor ceremony overlooking Long Island Sound. Gold urns overflowing with ivory orchids guided the couple down the aisle, which culminated with a jaw-dropping four-post arch adorned with a garland of hydrangeas, orchids, roses, stock and lisianthus. The pair exchanged vows in a traditional Catholic ceremony, then ushered guests into Greentree’s ballroom for the reception. For the reception, Nkenna and Ekwere left no detail overlooked. Tall arrangements of orchids featuring cascades of shimmering crystals and long lengths of ivory hydrangeas, roses, orchids and more filled the room, illuminated by purple uplighting and golden candlelight. Silver beaded chargers and mirrored tabletops added to the allure. The reception’s piece de resistance was the sweetheart table, an opulent tufted settee and gilded table framed by lavish arrangements of ivory orchids. Nkenna and Ekwere incorporated a number of traditional Nigerian customs into the evening’s festivities, such as the kola nut breaking. After dinner, DJ FreshyK took the stage, spinning a mix of African, American and Nigerian music that got guests up and dancing. A tip from Nkenna: “Focus on the things that matter most to you. Nkenna originally had her heart set on a form-fitting mermaid-style gown with a dramatic skirt, but after trying on countless dresses, nothing delivered the wow factor she was after. She decided to give other styles a shot and headed to Bridal Reflections to try on a YSA Makino ball gown her sister thought would be perfect for the glamorous fete. “Once I got into the dress, that was it—I had found my dress,” Nkenna says. With its full skirt, embroidered floral overlay and long illusion sleeves, the ball gown was a bona fide showstopper. “I wanted wow factor, and this was it. Nobody expected me in a ball gown,” she says. “The mermaid-style fit for me looked too predictable. Looking back, it was the best decision ever!”
Since orchids are Nkenna’s favorite flower, the striking blooms made an appearance in her bouquet. The arrangement was filled with cascades of white and vibrant purple orchids, offset by cream roses and bit of bling to play up the evening’s ultra-glam vibe.
To match the evening’s glamorous, modern aesthetic, Nkenna chose a mermaid-style gown for her bridesmaids to wear down the aisle. The off-the-shoulder neckline and form-fitting silhouette paired with a pale pink hue for the perfect balance of elegance and va-va-voom.
To distinguish his white dinner jacket tuxedo from the rest of the wedding party, Ekwere had his groomsmen don traditional black tuxedos from Suit Supply and matching black bow ties for the occasion.
The youngest members of the wedding party looked to Nkenna and Ekwere for inspiration when it came to matters of style. The ring bearer wore a white dinner jacket tuxedo that complemented Ekwere’s own, while the two flower girls wore tulle ball gowns with 3-D floral bodices that channelled Nkenna’s YSA Makino gown.
Before heading indoors for the reception, Nkenna and Ekwere exchanged vows in a traditional Catholic ceremony. The couple gathered their family and friends outdoors on Greentree Country Club's terrace overlooking Long Island Sound. The couple gave their guests a taste of the opulent evening to come with decor that exuded sophistication and glamour. Tall gilded urns overflowing with fresh ivory blooms framed the altar, while a garland of ivory hydrangeas, orchids and roses brought the ceremony’s stately wedding arch to life.
As Nkenna and Ekwere made their way up the aisle after saying “I do,” their friends and family members showered them with fragrant white rose petals.

To ensure a few private moments, the couple opted for a sweetheart table—complete with an opulent gilded settee—which they adorned with arrangements of cascading ivory orchids. A gold arch decked out in full white blooms hung overhead, amplifying the vignette’s luxe look.
