A Glamorous, Modern Wedding at Waterside in North Bergen, New Jersey
Cindy Mercado (35 and an IT QA manager) and Robert Reyes (32 and a Hudson County sheriff officer) met at Spanish club Divas in Montclair, New Jersey. Seeing he was such a good salsa dancer, Cindy excitedly said yes when he asked her to dance. One New Year's Eve, Robert held a party for close family and friends. At the stroke of midnight, all of the lights went off in the house. When they came back on, Robert was on one knee -- with an empty ring box! After finding the two-carat solitary princess-cut ring on the floor during the commotion of the New Year, Robert asked Cindy to be his fiancee. However, Robert waited to officially propose to Cindy until the middle of their wedding ceremony, when he again knelt to present her with the wedding rings and ask for her hand in marriage. After saying yes, of course, at Waterside with the Manhattan skyline as their backdrop, Cindy and Robert transitioned to their glamorous wedding reception. With high white hydrangea centerpieces and elevated candles decorating the tables, the biggest surprise during the reception was Robert bringing out a saxophone and serenading his new wife. "At the end of our special and surprised-studded day, we released wish lanterns into the sky, which acted as a good luck for our new vows," says Cindy.
