Shyann, 23, a floral designer, and Yurik, 25, a completions engineer, met in high school. They exchanged vows on their eight-year anniversary at 10,000 feet elevation at the San Sophia Overlook in Telluride, Colorado. Inspired by Shyann’s yellow diamond engagement ring, the couple decided to use a yellow, blue and silver color palette for a classy, clean look. Overall, the theme of the day was classy and glamorous meets rustic outdoors. Shyann, being a floral designer, did all the flowers herself, which were a combination of calla lilies, billy balls, sea holly and kiwi vines. They also tied in their love for mountain biking, which they did the night before their wedding, in the groomsmen’s pocket squares. With 38 guests, the couple loved their intimate wedding overlooking Telluride and the mountains. Shyann and Yurik made reservations for the reception at a restaurant in the mountain village of Telluride, but the whole mountain had a power outage for six hours. Instead, they improvised and went to a pizza place downtown that still had power. They had a more traditional reception a few days later back in Kansas at Shyann’s grandparent’s house.

Shyann and Yurik used the yellow diamond engagement ring as inspiration for the yellow mountain wedding. “We both agreed that yellow and blue would be perfect and bright, happy colors,” Shyann says.
Elegant Bridal Updo, Crystal Hair Accessories
“I originally wanted a fitted dress with all lace but never liked any of the styles I tried on,” Shyann says. “In the end it was a dress that I had no intention of trying on until I wanted to just for fun see what it would look like. The dress was so much fun to wear, and I knew it would surprise everyone to see me in a ball gown. I looked at dresses with my good friend who live in Colorado since none of my family was close. But after trying on this dress one time with her we decided to keep the dress a secret between the two of us and have a dress revival on the wedding day.” Shyann wore a white Vera Wang ball gown with a flower belt.

The flowers were one of the last things picked because I had trouble picking out the style I wanted my bouquet to be,” Shyann says. “Being a floral designer didn't make this as easy as you would think, maybe more difficult.” In the end, she did the flowers herself and carried yellow calla lilies, yellow garden roses, billy balls, kiwi vines and sea holly.
Classic Gray Suit, Yellow Boutonniere Groom's Look
Yurik wore a yellow call lilly, sea holly and billy balls on his lapel. The boutonniere was made by the bride.
Yellow Bridesmaid Dresses
The bridesmaids carried yellow roses, billy balls, kiwi vines, blue hydrangea and sea holly bouquets.
Yurik wore a gray three-piece suit, and the groomsmen wore classic black suits with blue vests and ties.
To tie the couple’s love for mountain bikes into their wedding, the groomsmen wore black-and-white bicycle pocket squares.
The flower girl wore a yellow dress tied with a blue ribbon. Her hair was tied in little pig tails with blue flowers clips. She carried a wire basket and a billy ball wand while throwing yellow daisies.

The ski lifts were free and went from the hotels to the mouton village and to the town of Telluride. “Our guests never had to drive,” Shyann says. “They could take the gondola life everywhere they wanted to go.”
