A Glamorous, Unconventional Wedding at the Oceanaire Resort Hotel in Virginia Beach, Virginia
Kara Spencer (30, business manager) and Bo Wilkinson (33, catering sales manager) met while working in the wedding service industry. They started out as friendly acquaintances, but they started bonding once they realized that they had a similar taste in music. They had been dating for seven years when one day, when Kara was asking Bo what jewelry would match with her outfit, Bo pulled out a princess cut diamond ring and asked “will this match?” Since both Kara and Bo had experience working in the wedding service industry, it was important to them that their wedding stand out. They held both their ceremony and reception at the Oceanaire Resort Hotel in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Both the ceremony hall and the reception ballroom were beautifully illuminated with purple uplighting. They had white flower arrangements of spider chrysanthemums, lilies and snapdragons at the ceremony. The exotic flower arrangements at the reception included colorful combinations of dendrobium orchids, craspedias and proteas. Kara wore a strapless, mermaid style wedding dress with ivory lace appliques, which she bought from the Ava Clara Bridal Boutique in Virginia Beach and paired with beige Louboutins. The couple wanted Bo to stand out in white just as much as Kara did on their wedding day, so Bo wore a white tuxedo with a black bow tie and a funky, purple silk flower as a boutonniere, as well as purple velvet loafers. Instead of a traditional wedding cake, Kara and Bo opted for a flambe station with gelato. Kara and Bo’s glamorous hotel wedding was a night to remember.
