A Glitzy, Memorable Wedding at the Samuel Riggs IV Alumni Center in College Park, Maryland

Vashti Gordon (26, program analyst) and Aaron Young (25, contract specialist) attended the same church for three years before running into each other. They started dating soon after they finally met each other. After six months of dating, Aaron proposed to Vashti at Georgetown Waterfront Park.He gave her a ring with a diamond from his grandmother’s necklace. Because Aaron attended the University of Maryland, they were married at its beautiful Memorial Chapel. They held their reception on nearby on campus at the Samuel Riggs IV Alumni Center. Vashti and Aaron’s color palette was white, silver and navy. At the reception, they arranged silver vases with white flower arrangements that included hydrangeas, roses, calla lilies and lisianthus. Their tablecloths were a shiny silver with rosettes. As a personal touch, the escort cards were childhood pictures of guests. Vashti looked gorgeous in a A-line Maggie Sottero dress in the style of Jalissa, with dramatic rosettes cascading down the full skirt and train. Aaron wore a custom black tuxedo from Indochino. The groomsmen wore gray suits with navy ties and the bridesmaids wore strapless navy dresses with sweetheart necklines. The four tier, white and silver wedding cake was baked by Aaron’s uncle and was flavored “blue velvet” to match the wedding colors. Also served was a football themed “Game Over” cake, since the couple loves football. Vashti and Aaron’s University of Maryland wedding was glitzy and memorable.
