A Gray and Yellow Country Wedding at Still Water Hollow in Nampa, Idaho
Nicole Allen (31 and an escrow assistant) and Derrick Heinrich (30 and a union pipe fitter) met through mutual friends. At the time, Nicole was focused on being a single mom and Derrick was adjusting to life after a tour in Iraq with the National Guard. But one day in April, Derrick proposed. Nicole was supposed to meet her friends for dinner, but was concerned about Derrick acting stressed and being short with her. She went home to feel out what was going on before dinner, and when we walked in the house, Derrick was on his knee. “I stood there in shock and his family was secretly placed throughout the house and they all jumped out and cheered,” Nicole says. They decided to get married at Still Water Hallow in Nampa, Idaho. They exchanged vows in a little white chapel before having their reception outside surrounded by a pond with a large fountain, overgrown trees and rustic gray wood barns. Inspired by the gray wood and mellow, rustic vibe of the venue, the couple chose gray and yellow for all of the details. Adele Martin from Blooms and Balloons made the classic yellow bouquets and Major Events completed the look with wooden barrels and burlap table runners for a country chic vibe. The best part was the DIY dinner made my Derrick’s uncle and Godfather as a family tradition. They had BBQ brisket and dutch oven sticky chicken with rice pilaf, salad, BBQ beans and rolls.
