A Historical Mansion Wedding at Buena Vista in New Castle, Delaware

Rebecca Schwartz, 32, a programs manager, and Josh Schwartz, 37, owner of High Horse Performance Inc., brought Josh's family diamond to the jewelers for a new setting when they were ready to start their lives together. The couple went away for New Year's Eve to Lewes, Delaware, where they went out for dinner and afterwards walked along the water back to the hotel. Josh asked for Rebecca's hand in marriage with the newly set diamond ring, and the couple made it back to the hotel to share the exciting news with both their families. Rebecca and Josh both shared a love for history and architecture, so they decided to have their wedding ceremony and reception at Buena Vista, a 19th century mansion surrounded by farmland in New Castle, Delaware. The couple chose a color palette of ivory with accents of peach and coral for their summer wedding with an overall romantic theme. Although on the day of the wedding the forecast was expecting rain, the couple still wanted to have their ceremony outside and move indoors for the reception afterwards. "Just moments after my father gave me away, it started to pour," Rebecca recalls. "The event staff ran out with umbrellas for the bridal party and actually held umbrellas over Josh and I so we could read our vows. As we looked out at our family and friends, it was amazing to see everyone smiling. In spite of the downpour, they were still so happy for us. It was so touching, and definitely one of the best moments at our wedding!"
