A Jewish and Hindu Fusion Wedding at Noah Liff Opera Center in Nashville, Tennessee

Hannah Buchman (32 and an interior designer) and Ketan Patel (31 and a doctor) met in Macon, Georgia, as neighbors in the same apartment complex. “We flirted on the elevator for weeks before finally going on our first date,” Hannah says. A little over three years later, Ketan proposed on the roof of that same building. Hannah and Ketan honored herJewish background and his Hindu background with a double ceremony for 175 guests in Nashville, Tennessee. The vibrant Hindu ceremony took place in the auditorium of the Sri Ganesha Temple. “Indian weddings are full of bright colors everywhere. So this became the overall theme for the wedding," Hannah says. "Fuchsia, yellow, orange, green and purples were carried throughout in the flowers, food and lighting. It was beautiful and created an energetic vibe for all the events." The Jewish ceremony was then held inside Noah Liff Opera Center under a poplar chuppah. Staying true to Indian tradition, the reception at Noah Liff kicked off with a choreographed dance by the bride and groom, which led to the cake cutting and more dancing—from playful Bollywood-style performances by the bridal party to the hora. “The evening ended with a send-off of wishing lanterns," Hannah says. "They floated off into the night carrying good thoughts and well-wishes.” —Carolyn Meers
