A Laid-Back, Sophisticated Spring Wedding at the Lajitas Golf Resort in Lajitas, Texas
Elyse Shepherd (22 and a product development design coordinator) and Kyle Hill (24 and an oil and gas operations engineer) threw an elegant yet relaxed fete against West Texas’s desert-mountain landscape.
“It was important to us that our wedding be simple and elegant,” Elyse says. “The backdrop of the Big Bend mountains along with the Spanish-ranch-style architecture of the resort became the perfect inspiration.” Twin flower girls adorably accessorized with sun hats and sunglasses, while the ring bearer wore a cowboy-inspired ensemble, from boots to a Western-style hat.
White and pale pink garden roses made up Elyse’s farm-gathered bouquet, with tiny tucks of seeded eucalyptus.
Fresh flowers covered their three-tier buttercream cake. “Our floral choices were inspired by the relaxed yet formal feel of the venue,” Elyse says. That goes for her look too: she chose a classic lace sheath dress with a modern bodice, V-neck front and a plunging open back.
The groomsmen wore classic, slim-fit navy blue suits and a fun accessory: crazy socks. In addition to silver drop earrings that matched her belt and shoes, Elyse accessorized with a solitaire diamond on a dainty gold chain—a gift from the groom.
For their grand exit, the couple ran through an archway of sparklers to their getaway car: a decorated golf cart.
