The lakefront views and sandy shores of this private residence in Tahoma, California, set the tone for this atypical backyard wedding. “The house is directly on the lake and is gorgeous,” Jennifer Noland (35 and a teacher) says of her marriage to Gregory Hill (39 and a data analyst). “Also, the backyard has multiple gardens and decks that enhance the lakefront setting.” Guests were greeted by a chalkboard sign that gestured them to swap their shoes for flip-flops before stepping on the sandy surface for the ceremony, captured by Nemus Photography. Little additional decor was needed where Jennifer and Gregory said their vows because of the beauty of the lake before them—with ribbon and lace draped over iron hooks with hanging wildflower arrangements by A Rose Is A Rose lining the sandy aisle. Simple white escort cards accented with pine and pinecone designs were hung from yarn tied to tree branches, pointing guests in the right direction of where they were seated at a nearby lawn reception. On the long dining tables, black and white table numbers were positioned on top of small wooden slabs surrounded pinecones, rocks and moss. We loved Jennifer's strapless white dress with a sweetheart neckline and ball gown silhouette, bringing elegance wherever she walked. “I thought I wanted a simple streamlined dress until I tried on mine,” Jennifer says. “I knew it was the one when my friend told me I couldn't stop smiling while trying it on.”

Jennifer wore an off-white strapless wedding dress with a sweetheart neckline and a ball gown silhouette. The skirt had several ruffled layers going all the way down to the bottom.
Before stepping on the sand where the ceremony took place, a bin of flip-flops were arranged for guests to change into the casual footwear. Next to the shoes was a chalkboard sign that read "Drop shoes here" and a wooden sign that read "Shoes here, vows there, love everywhere."
Gregory wore a light tan three-piece suit with a boutonniere pinned to the lapel, made with a mix of pinecones, sedum and small accents of greens. Gregory wore a royal blue tie over a white collared dress shirt.
Jennifer and Gregory were married on the sand at the waterfront of Lake Tahoe, with minimal decorations to highlight the beautiful natural landscaping. Ribbon and lace draped over white iron hooks that lined the aisle, which held up hanging glass jars filled with wildflowers.
The ceremony took place on the sand by the lakefront, which needed little decor thanks to the beautiful natural surroundings. The aisle was lined with white iron hooks that had lace and ribbon draped over them, with wildflowers arranged inside hanging mason jars.
Ivory escort cards had pinecone and pine designs depicted on the paper, which hung from pieces of yarn that were tied to tree branches.
Long dining tables were decorated with scattered pinecones, wooden slabs and moss that suited the natural surroundings. Tables were marked with black-and-white numbers, and Jennifer and Gregory sat at seats labeled with "Bride" and "Groom" signs.

"For dessert, we opted for pies instead of cakes," Jennifer says. "We had a pie table with four different types: jumbleberry, lemon chess, apple and turtle brownie chess. The table was a hit, and we had only a few pieces left at the end of the evening."
