A Literary Vineyard Wedding at Saddlerock Ranch in Malibu, California
Robyn Schneider and Daniel Inkeles’s early spring soiree was a rustic vineyard affair with playful literary and travel-inspired details.
“The theme was fitting, as we met at the airport on the way to the same book conference,” Robyn, a young adult author, says. Vintage book centerpieces that doubled as table numbers stole the show during the reception, and hand-stamped library reference cards put an complementing twist on the traditional seating chart.
With the vineyard offering a striking backdrop for the evening, the couple needed little in the way of décor. Playing up the setting’s rustic, romantic vibe, Robyn and Daniel dressed up the Saddlerock Ranch with market lights, wine barrels, vintage wood bars and a few DIY elements, which included a whimsical wire cake topper. “We also made and designed all of our own programs, place cards and signs,” the bride says.
The florals embodied a wild, vintage desert vibe, with king proteas, eucalyptus, thistles and silver brunia adding texture and drama to soft garden roses and peonies. “I joked that we wanted something like ‘a Free People catalog meets Jurassic Park,’ and Wildflora completely nailed it!” Robyn says.
Robyn and Daniel wrote their own ceremony with the help of their officiant and surprised guests during cocktail hour with a visit from Stanley, a resident giraffe.
