A Lowcountry-Inspired Wedding at Alhambra Hall in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina
Jenna Breland (29 and a gymnastics instructor) and Joshua Geiger (30 and a mechanical engineer) were inspired by the lowcountry culture of South Carolina. "Charleston has a beautiful and rich history and landscapes that are easy to fall in love with," Jenna says. "We wanted to replicate its beauty for our wedding." Their venue, Alhambra Hall in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, was the perfect choice to match their theme. Its southern-style architecture features a large wraparound porch accented by pillars, exposed wood beams and cathedral ceilings, and the hall features water views of Cooper River. To highlight the coastal culture that inspired them, Jenna and Joshua chose a color palette of light blue, white and tan. The waterfront porch, with seating for cocktail hour, featured all-white decor and flower arrangements of white hydrangeas and magnolia leaves. Inside, tables were covered in sea blue linens and the candelabra chandeliers above were decorated with hanging greenery and blue flowers. Jenna herself carried a bouquet of ivory garden roses, peonies, blue hydrangeas and ivy with her lace wedding dress, and Joshua wore a sweetgrass rose boutonniere with his navy suit and light blue bow tie. Even the wedding cake kept with the theme: it was decorated with blue hydrangeas and sweetgrass basket weaving, a craft that's native to the lowcountry region.
