A Luxurious, Spring Wedding at Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Washington, DC

McKenzie Walsh (27 and in advertising and marketing) and Alexander Walendziak (28 and a civil engineer) had been dating for six years when they went on a romantic getaway to Cape Cod. They spent the day at Martha's Vineyard and on the way back, they stopped by a lighthouse on the coast. "It was there, on a bench overlooking the ocean at sunset, that he asked me to marry him," McKenzie says. Since the couple met while attending college in Washington, DC, they thought it was only fitting that they get married there. They chose the ballroom at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel as the venue for their spring wedding. With a color palette of purple, ivory and green, McKenzie and Alex's wedding was luxurious and sophisticated. "We loved the idea of creating a romantic evening full of soft illumination, as if our guests were spending the evening in a garden alight with flowers and lanterns," McKenzie says. Their floral design beautifully carried out this vision, with mossy wood slab and candlelight centerpieces and a tree-like arrangement that greeted guests with escort cards hanging from its branches. At this gorgeous wedding, McKenzie and Alex were nothing but smiles as they celebrated their union surrounded by all of their loved ones.
