A Midsummer Night's Dream Wedding at House of Blues in Houston, Texas

Ashley Amador (26 and an advertising administrator) attended the all-girls’ Catholic school across from the all-boys’ Catholic school of Nicolai Sokulski (26 and in materials control). The pair met while attending a football game and dated for the next ten years before getting engaged on a hiking trip. They were married in Houston at The Gardens of Bammel Lane, a stunning glass observatory covered in white garden roses, hydrangeas and greenery under a lush arch surrounded by chandeliers, garden lights and candles, with a harpist for a magical, musical touch. Ashley wore a sequin and beaded Esme dress by Jenny Packham with a beautifully draped open back and small train. She opted for a natural, slightly darker look for her nighttime wedding in a glass building, choosing to style her hair in a 1920s-style low bun. The couple’s reception transported guests to the House of Blues for a complete turn around in atmosphere. The theme was a beautiful, mystical rendition of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, with a full, rich royal color palette of emerald, sapphire, merlot, deep red and gold. Eclectic flower-filled vases of ferns, eucalyptus, candelabras, glittered fruits, animal figurines graced the reception tables, and the dance floor ceiling twinkled with string lights that looked like stars. Ashley and Nicolai shared their first dance to “At Last” by Etta James, played by the Royal Dukes Band, and danced into the night with classic easy listening tunes and 80s favorites. The last song of the night was “You’re My Best Friend” by Queen, after which Ashley and Nicolai made their grand exit through a field of bubbles. Each of their guests took home a gold package of bluebonnet seeds that said ‘So we grow together.’
