A Minimalist Chic Garden Wedding at Mt. Hood Organic Farms in Hood River, Oregon
Delaney Elliott and Matthew Wilcox’s Labor Day wedding weekend in Hood River, Oregon, was a chic, minimalist affair that put the beauty of the Pacific Northwest front and center.
With its breathtaking views of Mt. Hood and 200 acres of park-like property, the farm offered the ultimate backdrop for the celebration, allowing guests from around the globe to get the full Oregon experience. The festivities unfolded with a garden ceremony overlooking the river, followed by cocktails on the lawn and a reception in the Apple House—an inviting glass and wood structure with giant doors that opened onto Mt. Hood.
Custom cocktail lounges with sleek white couches provided the perfect place to kick back and sip on rosé spritzers and orange-thyme old-fashioneds. For the reception, the pair punched up the white dining tables with copper accents, low textured florals and dusty-rose glasses with a touch of old-world flair.
“The florals were the perfect blend of romantic and modern. We had everything from table length arrangements to barside sprigs. They played a key role in setting a relaxed yet elevated touch to the setting,” Delaney says. “They complemented the wildflower garden without overpowering the natural beauty of the venue.”
Dinner was one of the most-talked-about elements of the evening, with its fresh, organic cuisine, which was followed by a spread of decadent desserts including macarons, cupcakes and cake bites.
As a surprise for Delaney and their guests, Matthew—a videographer—made a special short film telling the story of their relationship through the eyes of their parents. Cue the happy tears! “He spent time interviewing both of our parents and culled through hours of home videos to cut together,” Delaney says. “There was not a dry eye in the house. He absolutely smashed it, and I get teary-eyed just thinking about it.”
Other touches that put a personal twist on the day included Delaney’s brother serving as officiant for the ceremony and Matthew’s brother—a classically trained opera singer—performing while the rest of the family played backup. The pair even had jean jackets with retro ’90s patches specially made for the affair.
“Hold hands during the wedding," the couple says. "You will be pulled in so many different directions on the wedding night. Hold hands, and you will stay close to enjoy everything together. It’s worth it!”
