A Modern, Alternative Wedding at Asbury Lanes in Asbury Park, New Jersey
As New York City residents with family scattered throughout the tri-state area, Crystal Wang and Michael Komar chose to get married in Asbury Park, New Jersey. "It was in between New York City, Philadelphia and central Jersey—close enough and easy to travel to, but also a fun getaway wedding location," Crystal says. The couple didn’t want a traditional white wedding, so they worked with a moody color palette of jewel tones, deep navy, gray and accents of gold. To go along with the aesthetic, they sent out red, white and blue wedding invitations with gold calligraphy. They also exchanged vows at Danny Clinch Gallery, which they dressed up with white draping, gray chairs and flower arrangements. "Danny Clinch is a renowned music photographer and film director who has toured with and documented some of the most recognized musicians and bands in the world, and he is a New Jersey native," Crystal says. "His gallery is intimate, and his incredible work was displayed throughout, which was the perfect setting for our music- and art-loving hearts." For the reception, the couple headed to Asbury Lanes, a historic renovated music venue and bowling alley. The bowling lanes were covered with flooring to allow for additional space for guest tables, which were topped with sheer organza overlays with dark gray sequin embroidery. Delicate flower arrangements, as well as brass and smoky-gray glass candles, gave an eye-pleasing contrast. The entire space was lit up with colorful overhead lighting for a fun, alternative vibe.
