A Modern Ballroom Wedding at Hibernian Hall in Charleston, South Carolina
Colleen O’Keefe (29 and a credit broker) first met Rob (Robbie) Schroeder (28 and a broker) in middle school and only casually dated throughout their teens. After moving away to college and the wedding of Colleen's sister to Robbie's brother, the pair realized their relationship was stronger than friendship and began dating long distance. On Robbie's birthday, Colleen came home from work to find him on one knee with flowers and both of their parents. After a surprise celebration with friends, the couple began planning their destination wedding in Charleston, South Carolina, where Colleen's sisters were also married. Colleen and Rob exchanged vows at The Citadel Summerall Chapel surrounded by 500 guests and lush hydrangea, rose and mixed green arrangements. Following the intimate ceremony, the party kicked of at Hibernian Hall. The cocktail hour filled both levels of the expansive venue with modern couches, appetizers, a jazz band and transfusion signature cocktails. "There wasn’t a certain theme that we were planning around, just trying to keep everything very modern and fresh with colors that popped," says Colleen. "I started out with just royal blue, but as we continued to plan and look at fabrics, I realized that I wanted to incorporate Kelly green to add distinct colors and patterns since Hibernian Hall is an old building." A mixture of blue and green hydrangeas filled tall glass centerpieces, enhancing the contemporary ikat pattern linens and colorful draping. The after party continued at O-Ku for late-night dancing and snacks. “Everyone told me that the day goes by quickly, but I didn’t realize how quickly until I went through it myself!” says Colleen.
