A Modern, Colorful Mountain Wedding at Lions Square Lodge in Vail, Colorado
Blair Waltz (31 and works in sales) and James Fox (31 and works in the auto industry) met through mutual friends. About four years later, James proposed in Rome overlooking Lake Albano. For their wedding, the couple chose to exchange vows on the Vail Mountain Wedding Deck before heading to a tented reception at Lions Square Lodge at the bottom of the mountain. Wanting their wedding to be a little untraditional, the couple used a bold color palette of shades of blue, green, red, orange, pink and purple. “We are both very outgoing and active, as well as silly, so our style was definitely playful, vibrant, bright colors,” Blair says. The stationery was all very modern and geometric, inspired by maps. “Every paper product was a bright, vibrant picture of a map of a city where we’ve lived or where we are originally from,” Blair says. One of the best parts of the wedding was the eclectic menu from everywhere they’ve lived. “I'm from Kansas, so we served a small plate of BBQ ribs, baked beans and a shot of beer from a Kansas brewery,” Blair says. “James is from Philly, so we served a small plate of a Philly cheesesteak with potato chips. We both lived in San Diego together, so we served a small plate of fish tacos with a veggie relish.” At the end of the night, the couple enjoyed a personalized lime green bundt cake and served warm cookies and milk for dessert.
