A Modern, Colorful Wedding at The Bordone LIC in Long Island City, New York
Paulene Meyers and Bobby Underwood wed at The Bordone LIC, which opened eight months before their big day, because they "wanted a venue that none of our guests (or we) had ever been to before," Paulene says. "The magnificent skyline views are the best way to put New York City on display for all of our guests to soak up. Plus, because we had a lot of out-of-town guests, we were excited about giving them the opportunity to really see New York in all its glory." The ceremony was anchored by an acrylic chuppah covered in orange, yellow and red flowers. Paulene wore a contemporary, timeless dress with her naturally curly hair. Bobby went with a classic black tuxedo. The bride's brother officiated a personalized Jewish ceremony; in place of the traditional seven Hebrew blessings, they asked seven friends and family members to write blessings of their own. "Additionally, to honor the marriages from which we learned the most, we asked each of the four parents to share a few words about something they admire about their own partner and would like to see their child emulate in their own marriage," Paulene says. The couple had games on the tables at cocktail hour and crossword puzzles on the napkins. The reception featured blue accents and décor inspired by Arizona—like, small succulents perched on each rustic place setting.
