A Modern, Colorful Wedding Shelldance Orchid Gardens in Pacifica, California
For their summer wedding, Leah Reisman and Tom Gartner were inspired by the brilliant colors of Shelldance Orchid Gardens, and they designed their ceremony to highlight the natural beauty of the space. "Leah's parents got married in a greenhouse in upstate New York, so that continuity was special to us, as was the Pacific coastline setting of both our childhoods," the couple says. The ceremony took place under a chuppah made by the couple's fathers, and it was accented with colorful flowers that matched the DIY appliqué on Leah's dress. The bride and groom also incorporated several DIY elements made from recycled materials, including the signage, dining table linens and table numbers. "Our tables were named after our favorite restaurants across the country. We designed and printed the labels to resemble each restaurant's sign," the couple says "We also brought textiles from our home to use as tablecloths." Living plants dressed up the otherwise neutral tables. Guests ate a tiered naked wedding cake at the end of the night, and they also took home bags of granola as wedding favors.
Our favorite #MakeTradition moments: "Leah's four cousins walked photos of family members who are no longer with us down the aisle," the couple says.
