A Modern, Elegant Wedding at the James Leary Flood Mansion in San Fransisco, California

Margot Scheufele (29 and a first grade teacher) and Ricky Schramm (29 and an account director at AKQA) planned an elegant modern soiree for their spring wedding in San Fransisco, Calif. “After living on the East Coast our whole lives, we moved to San Francisco and quickly made it our home,” says Margot. “When we got engaged, we thought it would be a great idea to share our new home with those closest to us, so we decided to get married on the West Coast.”

The pair originally envisioned a casual celebration, but after visiting the James Leary Flood Mansion, all bets were off. The elegant, old world interiors and intricate decorative elements called for a formal soiree and Margot and Ricky simply couldn’t refuse. “We fell in love with the vintage glamour and elegance of the space, but we wanted to add our own touches to avoid any possible stuffiness that a black tie wedding might involve,” says Margot.

With the help of the planning team at Pine Street Events, the pair pulled off a fun-filled evening complete with dogwood and vibrant green floral arrangements, playful polka dot and striped linens and gilded animal place card holders that added a undeniably playful note to the decor. “We purposefully chose less formal table settings and flowers and added some personal touches, like simple signature cocktails — Corona with lime and prosecco — so our guests would feel more like they were joining us for a big family dinner,” says Margot.
A tip for the taking from Margot and Ricky: “In the midst of making what feels like a hundred thousand decisions, remember to prioritize — and work with a coordinator!”
