A Modern Garden Wedding at Lombardi House in Los Angeles, California

Combining their artistic talents, one couple created a modern garden-inspired wedding at Lombardi House, a Victorian-style farmhouse in Los Angeles, California. “We love working on projects together. Whenever we can, we work together creatively, and whatever we put together feels much more ‘ours,' ” the bride says. “We wanted our wedding to be fresh, organic and natural. The color scheme of fresh citrus colors, along with blushes and gold accents matched so beautifully with our venue.” Natural woods also played a large role in the decor and the day. All the signs—from the escort card sign to the table numbers—were cut and hand-lettered by the couple. At the ceremony, they placed letters they had written to each other in a wooden box they assembled together on the spot. "We bought two pieces of wood together, and my husband spent time carving dove-tail joints, a joint known for its strength, to join the pieces of wood and to create this box," the bride says. At the reception, which took place in the property's bright, airy barn, colorful flower centerpieces on long tables were accented with handmade wooden table numbers. When it comes to choosing themes, colors, and details, the bride (a wedding planner herself) has sound advice: "Think about the reasons 'why' something is important or significant to you, rather than just focusing on all the most beautiful trends happening at the moment," she says. "Then all the elements, the decor and all the little details for the wedding will come together so much more easily. Best of all, it will be something that is incredibly meaningful." —Carolyn Meers
