A Modern Garden Wedding at Mopac Event Center in Fort Worth, Texas
Heather and Travis wanted to re-create the whimsical feeling of an English garden for their wedding. "Faith and family are the two most important aspects of our lives, so it was very important for that to come out on our wedding day," Heather says, adding that she wanted the day to feel "like a family reunion." Their venue, Mopac Event Center, has an indoor space and outdoor space that flowed nicely together, so the couple took advantage of the setup. The ceremony took place in a modern garden surrounded by a tall wood fence. Travis and Heather's father built a cross that stood at the altar, symbolizing that "our relationship is built on Christ as our foundation," Heather says. "We also involved our closest friends in the ceremony by having them place beautiful bouquets on the cross prior to the ceremony starting. Since we chose to not have attendants at the wedding, it was a way for us to honor our cherished friends and family and for everyone to remember why we were there to celebrate." The wood arch also included white flowers and greenery, which contrasted with Heather's colorful bouquet of jewel-tone flowers in pinks and reds. After the ceremony, guests threw petals at the couple, which they got from a whimsically decorated "petal bar" at the ceremony site. The reception continued the garden aesthetic and jeweled color palette. "We wanted to also have a place for friends and family to play games if they needed a break from the dance floor. We had Jenga, tic-tac-toe and cornhole set up outside," Heather says. Some of our competitive-spirited family members really got into the games, and we have some fun pictures capturing those forever memories."
