Dasa Kajganic and Kathryn Poisson played up Airship37’s sleek, industrial vibe with an eclectic mix of natural and metallic accents. The couple—with the help of their family and friends—made many of the day’s details themselves. Dasa did all of the design work for the invitations, menus and signage, while her father welded copper pipes to make the table numbers and seating chart stands. Mirroring the raw feel of the venue, the centerpieces included craft beer bottles filled with baby’s breath and spray roses, geometric lanterns and garlands of fresh greenery. Instead of a classic wedding arch, the couple exchanged vows in front of a rustic wood shelf decorated with pillar candles, lanterns and green garlands. “The venue didn’t need a lot of décor, but the little accent pieces gave it a warm feel,” Kathryn says. As a tribute to Kathryn’s late mother, the couple included her photograph into the ceremony backdrop and made a donation to the Canadian Cancer society in lieu of traditional favors. “Traditions went out the window,” Kathryn says. “We signed the papers before walking down the aisle, had informal speeches during cocktail hour and axed the cake cutting and bouquet toss so we could get right into dancing.”
