A Modern Industrial Wedding at the Cotton Room in Durham, North Carolina
Modern, industrial and totally chic never looked better than it did with Matthew Lowder (left, 32 and a postdoctoral scholar) and Scott Forsythe's (30 and an ER doctor) sophisticated wedding the Cotton Room in Durham, North Carolina. A black-and-white palette accented with metallic gold and silver was flawlessly combined with chalkboards, mirrors and even polka dots. "We could not have pulled off our wedding without the services of interior designer and party planner Melinda Knowles of Host Party Planning," Matthew says. "She took one look at the Cotton Room—the beautiful brick, the hardwood floors, the huge windows—and immediately began putting together a coordinated vision. Her incredible ability to play off the inherent strengths of the venue and mix in her own creativity was key to making our wedding absolutely beautiful, while also keeping us within our budget." There is so much to love about Matthew and Scott's wedding—see our favorite details, beautifully captured by Carolyn Scott Photography, below. "One of the best things you can do today to plan for your wedding is to contact Carolyn and Geoff of Carolyn Scott Photography and pray that they have your date available," Matthew says. "If they're unavailable, consider changing your wedding date. That's how amazing they are. Seriously, I don't know how they do it, but they somehow managed to be the most professional and most fun of all the wedding vendors we worked with."
