Alison Lautz (32 and a clinical social worker) and Ryan Ruettiger (30 and a regional sales manager) had their modern and urban wedding at the Museum of Contemporary Art in downtown Chicago, Illinois. With open spaces surrounded by breathtaking art, the guests were able to mingle with one another throughout the museum and the outdoor patio for drinks and appetizers, especially the signature cocktail, the Moscow Mule, made of vodka, ginger beer and lime juice, all served by Wolfgang Puck Catering. The couple tied the knot at St. Michael's Catholic Church, one of the oldest and largest churches in Chicago, Illinois. "The long aisle is not for the faint of heart to walk down," Alison says. Alison glowed in her Enzoani wedding dress, a strapless white lace fit and flare gown made by an Italian designer who specializes in lace designs. She accessorized her ensemble with simple tear-drop earrings and rhinestone-studded gladiator sandals instead of heels. "Since I hate heels, I was as comfy as can be," Alison says. The museum reception grew into a dance party with Roberto Monastero as their DJ. He brought the excitement with his mixes and music selections, and kept everyone on the dance floor all night. "He even mixed in Toto's 'Africa' because we were taking an African safari honeymoon," Alison says. A piece of advice from the bride: "Just have fun with the whole planning process. It's not all about the wedding day and event, but more about the marriage and your life and love together. What color the napkins were won't matter after," Alison says.

To ensure maximum comfort on her wedding day, Alison wore a pair of gladiator sandals instead of traditional heels. The rhinestone-studded strap brought an element of flair to her elegant lace wedding gown. "Since I hate heels, I was comfy as can be," Alison says.
Alison styled her hair in an updo with a side French braid. The beautiful braid added an element of fun while remaining classy and refined. The updo allowed her features to shine and her tear-drop earrings to stand out against her olive skin.
For her special day, Alison shined in an Enzoani gown, made by an Italian designer who specializes in lace designs. The strapless white lace fit-and-flare dress accentuated her body beautifully while the sweetheart neckline brought a soft romantic aura to the entire ensemble.

Ranunculus and Dusty Miller Boutonniere
Ryan sported a Vera Wang classic black tuxedo for the wedding from Men's Wearhouse. He accessorized his outfit with a pure white tie and a ranunculus and dusty miller boutonniere. The groomsmen wore Vera Wang charcoal tuxedos with navy ties also, from Men's Wearhouse, accessorizing with matching boutonnieres and black dress shoes.
Alison's nine bridesmaids wore J.Crew navy chiffon cocktail dresses. They had four varying necklines, and each picked her style of nude heels. "Part of my gift to them was matching earrings, also from J.Crew, to wear on the wedding day," Alison says.
Alison and Ryan's ceremony took place at St. Michael's Church in the Old Town neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. As one of the oldest, largest and most breathtaking churches in the city, the long aisle is not for the faint of heart to walk down. "We knew having a big Catholic wedding felt like us and pleased our parents as well," Alison says.
Hip-Length White Veil
Between the wedding ceremony and reception, the wedding party rode in an old-fashioned trolley car to take wedding pictures throughout downtown Chicago. "This was a fun time to relax with friends and take in the amazing views before the party started," Alison says.
With a color palette of navy, white, beige and an earthy green, the high centerpieces of white hydrangeas brought the reception decor together perfectly. Visible through tall glass vases, the naturally green stems paired with the pure white petals of the hydrangeas contrasted beautifully against the navy table linens.

With the reception at the Museum of Contemporary Art, the stunningly modern space had an outdoor terrace for cocktail hour with views of the lake and some of Chicago's buildings. For the first three hours of the reception, guests were free to walk around the museum and check out the art.
