A Modern, Nautical Fall Wedding at Bay Harbor Yacht Club in Petoskey, Michigan
Laura Rybicki (28 and a tour director) and Chris DeChelbor (28 and a financial reporting analyst) grew up in northern Michigan and are proud alumni of Michigan State University, where they met. So it made sense to have their wedding waterfront on Lake Michigan. Laura had the color scheme chosen from the get-go—coral, pink, white and navy blue added preppy and nautical touches to the modern venue of Bay Harbor Yacht Club. The ceremony took place along the marina, on a dock just below the reception venue. After the ceremony, guests headed to the yacht club for cocktail hour and a major dance party. "I had several family members tell me they saw the dance floor concave in a few times from everyone jumping and dancing out there," Laura says. "There were guests of all ages out there a majority of the time, which was awesome to see." With the help of their wedding planner, Julie of Bay Harbor Yacht Club, and Jessica of Simply Sweet by Jessica, Laura created a dessert spread featuring an array of mini cupcakes and cookies. The table was decked out pink, navy and white streamers and chevron print details. Laura's sister, Sarah, created a cute pink and navy sign with the words "Love is sweet" as a finishing detail. We loved Laura's bouquet of roses, gerbera daisies, bupleurum and stock, which was created by Monarch Garden & Floral Design. It emanated the color theme with pops of coral, pink and white, and was bundled with silky navy cloth for a nautical touch. Dan Stewart Photography captured even more vibrant details from Laura and Chris's wedding, which can be seen below. A tip from Laura: "Remember to have fun while planning. It's easy to get caught up in all the details, but it's important to take a step back and remember why you are doing this and that it's supposed to be a memorable and exciting experience together."
