A Modern New Year’s Eve Wedding at Kevin Taylor's at the Opera House in Denver, Colorado
New Year’s Eve is filled with glitz and glamour, but Allie Anguiano (29 and a genetic counselor) and Mark Erickson (30 and a business intelligence analyst)'s wedding took things to a new level. The Ellie Caulkins Opera House’s ceiling resembled a night sky, as Allie and Mark started the day with an indoor ceremony. Afterward, all entered a reception at Kevin Taylor's at the Opera House restaurant that was nothing short of modern. Immense lines of stage lighting surrounded the theater as round tables with metallic linens and geometric chairs filled the floor. Both We Tie the Knots and Plum Sage Flowers ensured that the night was understated yet gorgeous, with silver candlesticks in clear glass cylinders and low arrangements of roses and succulents for the centerpieces. Don't even get us started on Allie’s wedding dress! When she and Mark stepped up for their first dance, her silver embroidered and lace gown by Justin Alexander captured the light. A white fabric dahlia stayed in place in her down curled hairstyle as they twirled along the stage. “The day felt like us,” Allie says. “There was a lot of focus on dancing and having a good time and a smaller focus on the actual ceremony itself.” In lieu of a wedding cake, Allie and Mark had a single-tier confection, cookies and various tartlets available for their 100 guests. Once midnight hit, all celebrated with a champagne toast. Check out the beautiful photos by Preston Utley, below.
