A Movie Theater, Hollywood-Themed Wedding at Uptown Theater in Kansas City, Missouri

Lisa Scruggs (31 and an artist and photographer) and Ben Waters (36 and a film editor) met through Ben’s sister (Lisa is her best friend!). A few years later, Ben proposed at Santa Monica Pier. Lisa and Ben did not want to to settle for a traditional wedding, but wanted a unique venue with cool decor. Loving the idea of a movie theater, Hollywood-themed wedding (especially since they now live together in Los Angeles), they chose Uptown Theater—movie theater turned concert space—in Kansas City, Missouri. Lisa made her colorful vintage broach bouquet as well as the bridesmaid’s vintage broach necklaces, which she gave them as gifts. The groomsmen wore Lego bow ties with their classic tuxedos and colorful socks for a little alternative flair. Tying in the movie theater theme, Ben even made their wedding story into a 3D movie for guests to watch before the bride walked down the aisle. Afterward the ceremony, they did a quick flip of the room for the reception and had a move script Mad Libs guest book. At the end of the night, guests went home with movie theater-themed candy and cracker jacks.
