A National-Park-Themed Wedding at Piedmont Community Hall in California

Alma Martinez and Don Pham’s summer wedding was a bright, fusion affair that paid tribute to their Vietnamese and Mexican heritages and their love of the great outdoors. The day’s national parks theme inspired many of the design decisions, from the hand-painted mountains and fondant trees that decorated the wedding cake to the dramatic paper floral arch that framed the couple during their “I dos” and the twine-wrapped favor boxes containing all of the fixings for s’mores. Hand-lettered chalkboard signage provided guests with details of the couple’s wedding hashtag and the locally produced on-tap selections during cocktail hour. To ensure every detail was laced with personal touches, Alma and Don made many of the wedding day details themselves, including the bouquets and centerpieces. After the ceremony, which took place in a redwood grove, the newlyweds joined their guests for wood-fired pizzas served up from a mobile brick pizza oven. “At first, we couldn’t figure out what food would be appropriate for both of our families and their particular diets,” Alma says. “At the end, we decided to have something that was easy, fun and delicious.”
