A Natural, Rustic Outdoor Wedding at Henry Miller Memorial Library in Big Sur, California
Robin Lovelady (34, a radiology technologist) and Shah Selbe (32, a spacecraft engineer) were introduced through a mutual friend on Facebook and exchanged messages back and forth. They met at a small bar for their first date in Santa Monica, California, hit it off and soon after began to date. The couple had been in a relationship for over a year when Shah planned a trip to Palm Springs, California for a weekend getaway. Although she didn’t know for sure, Robin had a feeling Shah was going to propose on the trip and hinted about wanting an antique engagement ring. While they were in Palm Springs, Shah planned for the two of them to go to Moorten Botanical Garden because of Robin’s love for plants and flowers. As they walked into the greenhouse (Robin’s favorite part,) Shah got down on one knee and proposed with the a beautiful diamond ring! The couple decided to have their wedding outside at Henry Miller Memorial Library near the coastline in Big Sur, California. Rather than picking a color palette, Robin and Shah let the natural beauty of the surrounding area take over. “Being able to have it in one of the most beautiful places surrounded by redwoods made it just that much more special to us," says Robin. “Things like bringing up our own furniture for the little vignettes, hand-mounting a dozen ferns on slices of logs, and personally editing our nature video all of that brought in such a personal touch."
