A Natural, Tropical Wedding at White Orchid Beach House in Maui, Hawaii
Elizabeth Erickson (37 and a horticulturist) and Olin Erickson (35 and an arborist) decked out their natural, tropical wedding in endless amounts of colorful blooms, which took place at White Orchid Beach House in Maui, Hawaii. "Having done flowers for many weddings in Maui, I was astonished at how few people used flowers grown in Hawaii," Elizabeth says. "I wanted as much color and tropical style to show off the natural beauty here in Maui." The palette stemmed from locally harvested red Mokara orchids and coral proteas used for decorative arrangements, along with orchids, roses, gardenias, and several others. Elizabeth and Olin got married at an archway made of branches and draped in foliage, with a blissful backdrop of the surrounding oceanic views. Pieces of wood with names marked where guests sat at the wooden dining tables, beautifully set with tropical flower centerpieces and white candles on gold candelabras. We fell in love with the leafy foliage hanging over the dining tables that Chris J. Evans Photography captured on camera, mixed with romantic string lights that became visible as the night went on. "We really wanted to share with our family so many of the special aspects of living in Maui and living off the land," Elizabeth says. "A magical combination of both land and sea."
