A Nautical Country Club Wedding the Country Club of Fairfield in Fairfield, Connecticut

Christine D'Elia (28 and a physician assistant) and Sam Bitetti (28 and a financial analyst) met at Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine. Both on the tennis team, they connected quickly and became close friends. It wasn't until their senior year did Sam ask Christine to dinner, and the rest is history. After graduating from PA school, Sam took Christine to Europe to celebrate. Sam proceeded to travel all around the continent to Switzerland, Italy and France with an uninsured engagement ring in his possession, sweating bullets the whole time! With a little liquid courage that resulted from the consumption of an entire bottle of wine, Sam finally asked Christine to marry him during a sunny picnic on a secluded island in the French Riviera. Christine and Sam were the third generation to get married at the Greenfield Hill Congregational Church while the reception was held at the Country Club of Fairfield both in Fairfield, Connecticut. Their love for the ocean inspired their nautical themed wedding. Their centerpieces were filled with sand, shells and flowers while their place cards were placed in sand covering nautical maps. Navy and white flip flops were also supplied at the reception for their guests. Dinner was served overlooking the golf course with a buffet which included beef, turkey, potatoes, vegetables and Christine's favorite - mac and cheese. For dessert, Christine and Sam had coconut flavored wedding cake and an assortment of cupcakes. "As a special touch, Sam and I, with the help of Sam's mother, provided our many out of town guests with welcome bags supplying information about our wedding weekend in addition to several drinks and snacks," says Christine.
