A Nautical, Jewel-Tone Wedding at Yacht Club of Stone Harbor in Stone Harbor, New Jersey

Although Karen Kuches (27, an IT assurance manager) and Joe Walus (28, a general contractor) went to the same high school and had a number of mutual friends, they didn't actually meet until Karen's sophomore year at University of Delaware. After some wooing and pursuing on Joe's part, they began dating shortly after her 20th birthday. "Eventually he won me over, because he was funny, attractive, and I thought he was the nicest guy I had ever met," recalls Karen. Six years later, Joe proposed over dinner at City Tavern in Philadelphia. "To this day, I'm still never sure I actually said yes," says Karen. "I was in shock and so excited that I'm pretty sure my response was 'thank you!'" The couple chose to have their wedding on The Jersey Shore, which they refer to as their "happy place."   A vibrant color scheme of rich jewel tones was an unexpected addition to their classic ocean nuptials. Beachy details and navy accents lent the day a nautical air without feeling one bit predictable.
