A Nautical Spring Wedding at Bay Pointe Club in Buzzards Bay, Massachusetts
Jacquelyne Kenyon (26 and an engineer) and Will Kenyon (29 and a safety professional) met at the Massachusetts Maritime Academy when Jacquelyne was just beginning her career and Will was a platoon leader. After six years of long-distance dating, they were about to buy a house together in Massachusetts when Will proposed. For their anniversary and Jacquelyne's birthday, Will took Jacquelyne to the Castle Hill Inn in Newport, Rhode Island, where he brought her to the ocean view cliffs and asked her to marry him. They chose to have their wedding at The Bay Pointe Club in Buzzards Bay, Massachusetts, to reflect their love of golf and the ocean. Being that they both grew up on Cape Cod and went to a maritime academy, they thought having a nautical-themed wedding was perfect for them. They chose a color palette of navy and yellow. "We wanted to stick with nautical colors, and those worked perfectly," Jacquelyne says. Bridesmaids wore knee-length yellow dresses, while groomsmen donned navy jackets with beige pants. Keeping with the nautical theme, centerpieces were simple lanterns with candles, and the guest book was an old boat oar guests could sign. Jacquelyne's favorite element of the wedding, however, was her and Will's choice to donate to the Jimmy Fund in lieu of wedding favors to honor her brother, who passed away from leukemia. "By doing that, it made me feel like he was there in spirit," Jacquelyne says. The wedding was a true reflection of Jacquelyne and Will and their journey together as a couple.
