Kelsey Doherty, (25, a Copywriter) and Chad Gaughan, (26, a Real Estate Agent) met in college, where they became best friends, and eventually started dating. Chad proposed on a family trip at Kelsey's parent's cottage in Biddeford Pool, Maine. "Since family is so important to us, Chad thought the weekend with both our families would be the perfect weekend to propose. He concocted a plan with everyone (besides me!) to make a big proposal. While everyone was relaxing in beach chairs, Chad asked me to go for a walk to the other end of the beach. The next thing I knew, Chad was on one knee pulling out a ring! We spent the rest of the day and night celebrating with our families on the beach," Kelsey recalls. The couple got married at The Breakwater Inn in Kennebunkport, Maine. "We really wanted a venue with an outdoor space where we could set up a beautiful tent and have the cocktail hour and reception overlooking the water. The Breakwater had all of this and amazing food to boot," Kelsey says. Since the couple was getting married in Maine by the ocean, they were drawn to a nautical theme. A color palette of aqua, navy and gold with pops of blush was inspired by their beautiful venue and the ocean.
