A Pastoral Fall Wedding at Castle Hill Cider in Keswick, Virginia

Emma Davis (26 and a teacher) and Haleigh Spencer Busby (24 and a law school and MBA student) decked out their barn venue at Castle Hill Cider in Keswick, Virginia, with rustic decor and beautiful blooms. In search of a venue not far from both of their families, who live on opposite sides of Virginia, the brides happened upon Castle Hill in Keswick. “We wanted a beautiful rustic fall wedding that would showcase the gorgeous Virginia leaves,” Emma says of their fall nuptials. “Although we didn’t go with traditional fall wedding colors, the beautiful white barn at Castle Hill seamlessly brought together the incredible landscape and the bright, airy designs we were looking for.” The brides’ talented and creative friends chipped in by helping to create DIY decor, from signs to cornhole boards. The couple’s lemon-flavored cake with raspberry jam filling was baked by a friend as well. “We just wanted to keep a very floral, rustic theme with everything at the reception,” Emma says. “We had beautiful flowers and wanted to showcase them. The theme of our wedding was definitely simplicity, and that's what inspired our reception look.” The brides decked out their rustic barn venue in flowing arrangements of greenery and flowers, along with romantic string lights. Dinner was catered by the Local, a Charlottesville restaurant that sources fresh, seasonal Virginia ingredients. They served mini Virginia ham-and-cheese biscuits and truffle macaroni and cheese. “All the food was incredible, and our guests raved that it was some of the best wedding food they'd ever had,” Emma says. The brides paired their food with wine from nearby Williamsburg Winery and ciders from Castle Hill. —Marissa Hermanson
