A Playful Modern Wedding at the Lafayette Park Hotel and Spa in Lafayette, California
Lolita Wong (32 and a catering manager) and Michael Acay (39 and a software engineer) met by a complete turn of serendipitous fate when they were seated next to one another at a John Legend concert at the Paramount Theatre. Later appointed to organize Michael's birthday gathering, Lolita set up a fun party which Michael turned around and spun into his proposal. As the catering manager for the Lafayette Park Hotel and Spa, choosing a location for her mid-summer wedding was a no-brainer for Lolita. “I loved the architectural design of the Lafayette and its outdoor courtyards,” says Lolita. “I also had complete trust in the staff and, of course, the food was amazing.”
The couple used a palette of vibrant pink and purple hues to fill the hotel’s elegant interiors with vibrancy and life, and ensured a festive atmosphere with endless entertainment that catered to each and every guest. A DJ spun 90s throwback mixes all night long, keeping the dance floor packed, while a caricaturist, photo booth and even dragon dancers offered a fun way for guests to kick back and relax.
In addition to the evening’s decadent menu featuring coconut crusted shrimp, lam chops, crab cakes and port wine poaches pears and blue cheese crostinis, Lolita and Michael surprised guests at the end of the night with a Fenton’s ice cream bar and a churro cart serving up hot and fresh sweet treats.
