A Playful, Modern Wedding at the Palm Springs Air Museum in Palm Springs, California

Chris Cueva (35 and a business owner and flight attendant) and Lou Rodriguez (27 and a business owner and flight attendant) met by chance at Logan International Airport in Boston, kick starting a whirlwind romance that would lead them down the aisle. “He had a smile that wouldn’t quit!” Lou says of first meeting Chris. “I first fell in love with his mind, then I fell in love with his heart. He’s the most compassionate person I know.”

The pair’s aviation theme started with a paper airplane. “It’s a special symbol for us,” Lou says of their motif. “Paper airplanes represent playfulness, aviation and creativity, much like us.”

After watching the grooms exchange vows next to a vintage airplane, the guests moved inside to a hangar decorated with Edison bulbs, hanging driftwood and paper ornaments that the couple dubbed “desert chic.” “It was a totally new experience for our guests,” Lou says of the unexpected venue.

For a quirky and sentimental touch, the couple honored Chris’s Mexican heritage with sugar skull cake toppers.
