A Playful Pink Wedding at Marston Pavilion in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina
A parking lot seems like an unlikely place to meet your future spouse, but that’s just what happened to April Joens, 37, a medical worker and Tony Joens, 32, a member of the United States Marine Corps. The two crossed paths in a Starbucks parking lot on a cold January day. “It was freezing,” recalls April, “and I saw a guy walking through the parking lot wearing jeans and flip flops! So I said something to him about being crazy wearing flip flops when it is below freezing outside, he just laughed, said something silly and I was interested from that moment.” The couple dated for several months before Tony popped the question, presenting April with a ring and a cupcake that read “Marry Me,” with both of her two children at his side (he had asked their permission to marry their mother a few days before).Following a ceremony at the chapel on base at Camp Lejeune, NC, the couple and their guests headed to Marston Pavilion, which is also on base for the reception. The spot offered stunning views of both New River and Wallace Creek. The couple chose a playful pink color palette with plenty of sparkly details. The tables were covered with pink and white linens, a mix of both high and low centerpieces of bright pink and red flower accented with shimmering details and plenty of candlelight topping each. To ensure each gues,t, young and old enjoyed the evening, April and Tony incorporated fun touches like a photo booth with lots of props and milk and cookies for the kids when it was time for the champagne toast. At the end of the night, the couple hired a shuttle to transport all of their guests from the reception to the hotel where all of the out-of-towners were staying.
