Rather than choosing one style, Laura Piper (26 and in advertising) and Matthew Whitten (26 and in business) mixed beach and preppy details for a fun wedding covered in navy, gold and coral. Filda Konec Photography captured every moment of the day, which started with an intimate ceremony at Southernmost on the Beach in Key West, Florida . Laura walked down the aisle in a fun Allure ball gown from the Crystal Bride in Illinois. Tiers of ruffled organza floated along the sand as a Swarovski brooch shined from her sash. Matt waited by the bamboo arch in a navy blazer and bright coral pants. After the couple said “I do,” all took part in a custom unity shell tradition. Each of their 16 guests took a seashell, made a wish for the newlyweds and threw it back into the sea. Then the party began! Guests played corn hole and sang country tunes with local guitarist Jeff Harris; the couple’s planner and florist, Soiree Key West, put natural accents on each navy family-style table. Gold coral-shaped candlesticks, driftwood and white hydrangeas filled the space. For a fun touch, each place setting was met with a sea-sponge-inspired gold charger. Laura and Matt’s wedding cake stood out with a brighter hue. Key West Cakes covered each white tier with a coral detailing and chose a pair of kissing seahorses for the topper. Laura shares a tip for future couples: “Stay calm. Everything is going to be all right. At the end of the day, you're marrying the person of your dreams.”

Pink and Blue Chalkboard Wedding Sign
The couple’s planner and florist, Soiree Key West, brought the beach into their reception with a few fun twists. Orange hypericum berries popped from bunches of white hydrangeas along the tablescape as greenery, driftwood and candles atop gold coral-inspired accents filled the center.

Matt popped the question in an unexpected spot: the end of Space Mountain in Disney World. After they went through the ride, he gave Laura a custom ring from Bryn Mawr Jewelry Company in Chicago, Illinois. “It brought me to tears,” she says. “It was one of the happiest moments in my life.” The cushion-cut diamond was surrounded by a double halo and set in a diamond band.
To go with the couple's preppy wedding style, the bridesmaids wore classic floor-length dresses in navy with a string of pearls. The groomsmen wore matching navy Ralph Lauren Polo blazers with fun coral pants from Vineyard Vines for the beach ceremony.
Instead of traditional wedding shoes, Laura added a different style to her beach wedding-day look. She wore a pair of custom navy barefoot sandals by Stella Designs with pearls and intricate beading. Her bridesmaids even wore pearl jewelry that matched the accent.
Laura and Matt included a few other locations in their wedding. DIY signs toward Alabama (where Laura's family lives) and Disney World (where they got engaged) accented the reception space in the couple's wedding colors. After the ceremony, Laura and her bridesmaids even took a picture around the signs.
Laura, Matt and Soiree Key West also added a beachy touch to their reception decor. Each place setting was met with a sea-sponge-inspired gold charger as natural centerpieces with coral-inspired candlesticks lined the table.
Soiree Key West combined both the couple's beach and preppy wedding styles in their reception. White hydrangeas, greenery, driftwood, and orange hypericum berries lined the table as gold coral-inspired candlesticks accented the arrangement. Navy linens, bright coral napkins and sea-sponge-inspired chargers were used at each place setting.
Laura and Matt treated their guests to key lime pie and a s'mores station before bringing out the wedding cake. Key West Cakes baked a three-tier confection covered with fun fondant designs in a bright coral hue.
Laura completed her wedding-day look with a few fun accessories. Before stepping into the water, she donned two silver hair accessories that complemented the bold Swarovski brooch on her sash and her down curled hairstyle. Rather than wedding shoes, she also wore a custom pair of navy barefoot sandals.
