A Purple Wedding at Duck Woods Country Club in Southern Shores, North Carolina
With the Outer Banks’s natural beachy beauty, we know exactly why Nichole LaMaster (26 and a chiropractor) and Teddy LaMaster (27 and a medical physicist) chose Duck Woods Country Club in Southern Shores, North Carolina, for their nuptials. The space was the perfect blend of nautical charm and lush greenery with the golf course ceremony site and white country club ballroom for the reception. We love the subtle nod to the beachy locale with driftwood details, natural finger starfish and small white beach chair picture-frame escort card holders and favors. Bringing the tropical theme to life, the couple used purple orchids throughout the decor (which also inspired the purple and ivory color palette). “I chose the orchids as an homage to my grandmother who passed away this year,” Nichole says. “We gardened together when I was little, and I will always remember planting edible flowers like the purple orchid.” Wanting to keep her grandparents near her heart on her day, Nichole also wrapped her white garden rose bouquet with a silver cross from her grandfather—a very important detail to the couple. We love how Nichole and Teddy made their wedding ultra-personal and memorable with a beach ball recessional, a "Star Wars" theme song reception entrance and even superhero shirts under all the groomsmen’s suits (Teddy was Batman, of course).
