A Quirky Halloween Wedding at Oviatt Penthouse in Los Angeles, California

Nothing about Katherine Canipe (31 and an actor) and Alec Wells's (30 and works in TV production) wedding day was traditional. Instead, like Katherine and Alec, it marched to the beat of its own drummer. Everything—from Katherine's black Vera Wang dress and their all-male bridal party to their time capsule guest book—perfectly represented the quirky couple. "I was obsessed with Vera Wang's fall 2012 bridal line, which featured a series of black and nude dresses," Katherine says. "I loved them because they were so different without feeling overly gothic or dark in tone. Instead, they were kind of ethereal and romantic." Once she had her hands on her dream dress, she says that the rest of the wedding just fell into place. Inspired by their "Back to the Future"-themed engagement shoot, Katherine and Alec included nods to the classic 1980s film throughout the day, including a replica clocktower. Subtle nods to Katherine's love for horror movies were also woven throughout the decor at Oviatt Penthouse in Los Angeles, California. "Since we found a venue that had such specific art deco style and charm, we couldn't go with a strong autumnal theme," she says. "Instead, we let the venue shine while incorporating some touches that were Halloween, autumn and horror related." Quotes from Stephen King (their favorite author) were scattered around the venue, and a skeleton bride and groom statue topped the cake table. —Meghan Overdeep
